New possibility in sea container transport
28-11-2011
Daily Maersk, a global container transport operator, is launching a new service which will let sending cargo from four ports in Asia everyday with a warranty that it will be delivered to one of three European hubs. The whole sea transport  web, together with a shipping connections with Gdańsk, will be improved.

The company’s board said that this new service will change opinions about a sea way of transport. Clients always had to take into consideration that there could be a delay in a cargo delivery. The big change means that clients who need to be sure that their cargo will reach its destination place rather than that it will be there fast, will now be satisfied.

Thomas Bagge, a chairman of the board of Maersk Polska, which is representing  regular shipping Maersk Line (from a group A.P. Møller-Mærsk) said that a certainty of a delivery will let them cut their costs, because they will be able to plan the logistic process better.

Thanks to Daily Maersk, every client will be able to send his cargo from one of four ports in Asia (Ningbo, Szanghaj, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas) and will be sure that it will be delivered on a specific date in one of three ports in Europe (Felixstowe, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam). Moreover, there will be a possibility to send cargo every day, so time of a transport will be shorter. Untill now there has never been such a solution available in sea transport.
The company will be paying compensation if there will be any delay. It will amount to 300 dollar for each day of a delay for a batch of cargo.

A service A210 Maersk – a direct connection of ports from the Far East and Gdańsk (DTC port) - has the same rules. Punctuality is very important. But this connection, unlike a new service, works only once a week.

Present punctuality on a route to Gdańsk is 92,4%. This is a result 2% higher than before  launching a new service – Thomas Bagge underlined. Maersk Line has an ambitious plan to reach 95% by the end of a year 2013.
