- Katowice and Gdansk to help Chopin Airport
For the next three weekends, Katowice-Pyrzowice airport will serve 47 planes more. Also 3 transatlantic machines will land or depart from Lech Walesa airport in Gdansk this weekend. All due to the repair of airstrips on Chopin Airport.
Spokesman of Katowice-Pyrzowice airport, Cezary Orzech, said that in the past, due to the bad weather in the other regions of Poland, Silesian airport could serve even 20 planes in three hours. So it should not be a problem.
This weekend in Katowice there will be crowdy. Among others, planes from New York and Toronto are about to arrive.
In the north of Poland – Gdansk, this weekend there will be planes (Boeing 767) from Chicago, New York and Toronto. Tomasz Klosowski, Chairman of Lech Walesa airport in Gdansk also said that this operation will not be a problem.
Repair of airstrips will take three weekends: 3-6, 10-13 and 17-20 of September. During this period, a part of the Chopin Airport will be close and runway shortened to 1.3 kilometers. There will only depart smaller planes.
